Tennis is by far my favorite sport and I have been following @rafaelnadal for a very long time. I`ve also been lucky enough to capture him at the US Open a few times for @drawbridgedig and @usopen @usta. Having the opportunity to combine a sport I love to play and watch with my passion as a photographer is something I am very grateful for. Rafa brought such an energy to the game. He is a master!!! I`m excited to see what he brings to the sport moving forward, even if he isn`t on the court! When I was 21 I had the incredible opportunity to tour the US with Roy Haynes as his road manager. It was one of the coolest experiences of my life. I have Joel Chriss to thank for it.
My photography career was born from this experience in a way. Once I completed my tasks to get the band on stage, I walked around and did my thing. It was 1997 so it was film. I had a Minolta Maxxum at the time. I was just beginning to "see things" with the camera. I remember bringing 1600 speed film with me and packing it in a special pouch that didn`t go through the scanner at the airport! This was such a fun time in my life.
I learned a lot from Roy and I know everyone who came into his view did. He passed away today at 99 but I know his legacy will for sure live on. Rest in Peace Roy. #royhaynes #jazz #jazzdrummer #jazzphotography
I enjoyed covering Lenny Kravitz` residency "Blue Electric Light Las Vegas" for @4wall recently. They designed the set/lighting/sound/everything and asked me to make "production stills" for them. Those are essentially wide shots of the stage. I managed to fire off a few tighter shots of Lenny as well during the show and here are a few I liked. Still in a bit of shock over the passing of Liam Payne. I took photos of Liam and 1D a few times for @z100newyork Z100, and I got such a good vibe from him in those brief moments. He did the @elvisduranshow Summer Bash and I watched him with fans during the meet and greet. Afterwards we talked for a little bit and I said to myself “this is a good dude.” And so I’m just saddened by his very untimely death and wanted to pay tribute to him. Very sad and tragic.
